Industry Vet and Wakaan Records founder, Liquid Stranger has been pushing the envelope with his genre bending flavor of Bass Music that he refers to as Free Form Bass. He will be performing on The Arcade stage on Friday evening, check out this serious swede's artist profile.
When Dubstep began to lose it's grip on the industry from 2012-2015, Liquid Stranger went back to the lab. Taking a much deserved break, Liquid Stranger began preparations for his record label and started cooking up new concepts for a new strain of Bass Music, defined indefinably as “Free Form”.
In 2015, he founded Wakaan Records, with its main purpose to change the bass music landscape whilst giving complete artistic freedom to the artists on the label. He hand picked the cream of the crop of up and comers in the Bass Music scene such as G Jones, Bleep Bloop, Space Jesus, Shlump and Vancouver's own Perkulat0r (also playing ELFest 2017).
The Stranger’s first mix for the label, "Sounds of Wakaan Vol. 1" showcases the Wakaan roster as it takes you on a musical journey that feels like a Doctor Seuss novel set in a post apocalyptic world. Weird, but wonderful. His releases after his hiatus are also pure gold. Collaborations "Don't Stop" and "Won't Stop" with Space Jesus helped introduce the Wakaan sound to the populace.
