On April 28, 1967 - Muhammad Ali refused to be inducted into the army and was subsequently charged with draft evasion and stripped of his heavyweight title. He later regained his title after being banned from boxing for 4 years. One of the first examples of an athlete transcending sport into the politics of protest.
